چکیده

The use of bicycles on two-lane rural roads in Spain has been increasing recent years. However, these have no bicycle infrastructure, being cyclists forced to share the road and interact with motorized vehicles. In environments, interaction between users from cyclist’s point view is still not well understood. To analyze it, relationships risk perceptions behavioral factors according their demographic characteristics, profile, self-reported knowledge traffic rules were obtained. An online survey was used, which collected opinion 523 cyclists. Data analyzed by using structural equation models. Thurstonian Item Response Theory approach adopted include raking responses. Different among groups found. Younger present lowest perception while having a higher behavior. about correlated safety behavior, showing importance this factor. These results are line urban cycling. However important differences under elements for cyclists, mainly associated potential hazards shoulder, drawn. findings may help policy makers integrate cycling vehicular safe way.

Estimation Model of Two-Lane Rural Roads Safety Index According to Characteristics of the Road and Drivers’ Behavior

Vehicle crashes are amongst the major causes of mortality and results in losses of lives and properties. A large number of the vehicle crashes occur on rural roads. Accidents become more noteworthy in two-lane roads due to going and coming traffic. Therefore, prediction of crashes and their causes are considerably important to reduce the number and severity of the accidents. The safety index is...

Overtaking Prohibition Safety Effects on Two Lane Rural Roads

This paper presents the results of a cost-effectiveness study concerning the effects of an overtaking prohibition on two lane rural roads. Overtaking prohibitions are being implemented in the Netherlands aiming to improve safety. Overtaking frequency on road sections with and without overtaking prohibition are measured by means of camera observations Overtaking frequencies were determined by co...
